Dear Mini-Me Academy Parents
Following Pres. Ramaphosa’s announcement of the State of Emergency, we would like to communicate the following:
Nursery schools fall under the Dept. of Social Development. As of 12:00 on 16 March 2020 the Minister Lindiwe Zulu announced that Nursery schools must also obey the closure from 18 March 2020 to 14 April 2020. We also received a circular from DSD. Keep in mind, when a disaster has been declared the disaster act comes in play. This means that the Government can take any measures to keep its citizens safe. This includes the closing of schools, restriction of movement of citizens (eg travel) etc.
We are well aware of the massive impact that this decision will have on Parents and that we have many families who do not have a support system that can help with child supervision. As much as we want to continue with our service delivery, it will be irresponsible to heed to the Government’s measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Therefore Mini-Me Academy will be closed from Wednesday, 18 March – Tuesday 14 April 2020. If there are any changes in this timeline, we will communicate immediately.
Thank you to all our Parents who took the initiative to keep their child at home. Doing this we can see that we are on par when it comes to the children’s safety.
We will also send out weekly activity packs via email to ensure the children will still be exposed to the weekly outcomes which the children would have been taught during the first two weeks of April. This is especially important for the Gr R group (Frog class) to not fall behind. We want to thank you in advance for your help in this regard and we will also do everything in our power to make sure no child misses out on returning to school. You are welcome to contact your Teacher during this time if you are uncertain about any of the activities. Formal assessments will commence on 14 April 2020.
These activity packs will be sent out according to age groups on:
- Monday 23 March 2020 (no activities due to Government school holiday)
- Monday 30 March 2020
- Monday 6 April 2020
The Gr R Progress reports (Frog class only) will be ready for collection on:
- Friday, 20 March 2020, from 07:00 – 08:00
On 14 April when returning to school please make sure your child does not show symptoms of:
- Flu like symptoms
- Sore throat or swollen glands
- If you should give them panado to get them through the day
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support. We also wish everyone well during this period and remember to continue with thorough and effective hygiene and precautions.
